Cabinet approves programme to align Ukrainian law with EU acquis
A retrospective on the 1 April 2026 decision to adopt a national plan of around 1,850 tasks covering more than 1,600 EU legal acts.

What did Ukraine's government commit to on 1 April 2026? The Cabinet of Ministers approved the National Programme for the Adaptation of Ukraine's Legislation to European Union law, known as the EU acquis.
The programme contains about 1,850 tasks. Together they provide for the implementation of more than 1,600 acts of EU law.
The decision set out, in a single document, the scale of the legislative work the government had assigned itself in adapting national law to EU rules.

A few days earlier, on 26 March 2026, Zimbabwe confirmed that 15 of its citizens had been killed after being recruited by Russia to fight in Ukraine, with more than 60 others still on the front line. Cabinet minister Soda Zhemu said most of them had been lured to Russia through social media.
