A look back at the Cabinet decision on Vitali Klitschko and the parliamentary vote on deputies' immunity a day earlier.

What happened to Kyiv's city leadership on 4 September 2019? The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a decision dismissing Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko from his post as head of the Kyiv City State Administration.

The decision concerned his role at the head of the state administration. It did not concern his position as mayor of the city.

The move came a day after another significant political step. On 3 September 2019, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine approved a bill providing for the removal of immunity from people's deputies.

Together, the two decisions of 3 and 4 September 2019 marked a busy stretch in Ukrainian public life, touching both the capital's administration and the legal status of members of parliament.
