A look back at the presidential decree of 2 February 2021 that put a National Security and Defence Council decision into effect and blocked three broadcasters.

What happened in Kyiv on 2 February 2021? President Volodymyr Zelensky put into effect a decision of the National Security and Defence Council (NSDC) on sanctions against Taras Kozak, a member of parliament, and the television channels 112 Ukraine, NewsOne and ZIK. The channels were blocked.

The decision named one lawmaker and three broadcasters, and the president's enactment of it gave the sanctions force.

A few days earlier, on 29 January 2021, the Verkhovna Rada had passed a law banning the registration of the Sputnik V vaccine developed by Russia. That measure came amid the COVID-19 pandemic in Ukraine.
