Rada rejects bills to end e-declarations for activists

A look back at the parliamentary vote on anti-corruption disclosure rules, alongside the start of the family doctor campaign.

What did Ukraine's parliament decide on 3 April 2018 about asset declarations for anti-corruption activists? The Verkhovna Rada rejected two bills that would have scrapped electronic declaration for civic activists: presidential bill No. 6674 and a deputies' bill, No. 6271.

Both proposals sought to remove the e-declaration requirement for activists. By rejecting them, the Rada left the obligation in place.

Health reform campaign under way

The vote came two days after the official national campaign to choose a family doctor began on 1 April 2018, as part of the medical reform.

Elsewhere in the region

On the same date, 3 April 2018, Russian MPs called for sanctions against Latvia. They were responding to plans to make Latvian mandatory for all secondary-school students in a country where a quarter of the population is ethnic Russian.
