What did Kyiv's anti-vaccination rally of 3 November 2021 show?

A look back at a protest in the government quarter and a border incident reported in the same days.

What was happening in the days before 6 November 2021? In Kyiv, several thousand people took part in a rally on 3 November against COVID-19 vaccination and the restrictions introduced because of the pandemic. Participants blocked traffic in several places in the government quarter.

The same day, a separate development was reported on the border between Belarus and Poland. Poland summoned the Belarusian chargé d'affaires after Belarusian troops crossed into Polish territory overnight. A Polish government spokesman said the Belarusian personnel advanced 300 metres (980 ft) into Poland and went back across the border only when a Polish patrol confronted them.

Both events were reported on 3 November 2021, and both were part of the news picture as 6 November approached: public protest over pandemic policy in the Ukrainian capital, and a diplomatic summons over a border crossing between neighbouring states.
