What did Kyiv's first NASAMS delivery signal in November 2022?
A look back at air-defence aid reaching Ukraine, and a Polish border announcement, in the first days of November 2022.

What was the state of Western military support for Ukraine on 8 November 2022? Days earlier, Kyiv had announced a concrete addition to its air defences.
On 7 November 2022, Ukraine confirmed that it had received the first delivery of the NASAMS surface-to-air missile system. Defence Minister Oleksii Reznikov said the system would significantly strengthen the country's armed forces. The delivery was part of foreign aid to Ukraine during the Russian invasion that began in 2022.
The regional security picture was also shifting to the west. On 2 November 2022, Poland's Minister of National Defence, Mariusz Błaszczak, announced the construction of a barrier along Poland's border with the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad. Poland believed Russia would use that border to transport immigrants from Africa and Asia into Europe illegally.
Together, the two announcements, one on air defence and one on border security, marked the first week of November 2022 in the region.
