A look back at a week of Ukrainian legislation and G7 talk about Russia.

What was the backdrop for Ukraine on 13 June 2018? It was a week in which Kyiv's legislature acted on anti-corruption reform while G7 leaders disagreed over Russia.

On 7 June 2018, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a law on the High Anti-Corruption Court.

On 8 June 2018, at the 44th G7 summit, U.S. President Donald Trump called for Russia to be reinstated in the group. Russia had been suspended after the annexation of Crimea in 2014. As reported at the time, the call was supported by the Prime Minister of Italy, Giuseppe Conte, and rejected by most other G7 leaders. Trump repeated the call on 9 June 2018.

In February and March 2014, Russia invaded and occupied the Crimean Peninsula of Ukraine and then annexed it after an illegitimate referendum.
