What did the reports show on 2 August 2022? Ukraine's Operational Command South said that three people evacuating in a minibus were killed by Russian shelling near Kherson Oblast.
The deaths came after a run of incidents in the final days of July. On 31 July 2022, a Russian missile strike on Mykolaiv killed Oleksiy Vadaturskyi, the owner of Nibulon, and his wife. The city is described in the report as being in Kherson Oblast.
The same day, the mayor of Sevastopol said a drone had struck the headquarters of Russia's Black Sea Fleet, injuring five people.
A separate flashpoint
On 1 August 2022, authorities in Nagorno-Karabakh, who use the name Artsakh, reported shelling and heavy gunfire near two villages. Azerbaijan and Russian forces in the region denied the reports.
Taken together, the reports from 31 July to 2 August 2022 point to continued violence in southern Ukraine and in Crimea, and to a disputed account of firing in Nagorno-Karabakh.
