A look back at the day senior officials left their posts as a nationwide anti-corruption campaign began.

What does an anti-corruption campaign look like when it begins? On 24 January 2023, in Ukraine, it looked like a wave of resignations among senior officials.

Among those who left their posts was Kyrylo Tymoshenko, deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine. Four deputy ministers also resigned, as did five regional governors. As reported at the time, the departures followed the launch of a nationwide anti-corruption campaign in the country.

The breadth of the exits stood out: they reached the presidential office, ministries and regional administrations on the same day. Each level of government was touched by the campaign at its outset.

The reports from 24 January 2023 describe the resignations and the campaign, and they mark the day when the drive against corruption became visible in the careers of senior officeholders.
