A look back at the daily figures reported in the days before 24 November 2020, as Ukraine's coronavirus toll rose.

How bad had Ukraine's COVID-19 figures become by 24 November 2020? The reports from the preceding days show a country setting new daily records in both cases and deaths.

On 18 November 2020, Ukraine passed 10,000 total deaths from COVID-19 after a record 256 new fatalities were reported over 24 hours. The next day, 19 November, the figure was higher still: a record 257 new deaths, together with 13,357 new cases. That took the nationwide death toll to 10,369 and the total number of cases to 583,510.

Case numbers kept rising. On 20 November, Ukraine reported a record 14,575 new cases in the previous 24 hours, bringing the national total to 598,085. On 21 November, a new single-day record of 14,580 cases was reported, lifting the total to 612,665.

A four-day run of records

Taken together, the reports from 18 to 21 November describe four consecutive days in which Ukraine recorded either record deaths or record daily infections. Over the three days from 19 to 21 November, the cumulative case count rose from 583,510 to 612,665.

Those were the figures that stood as the latest reported ahead of 24 November 2020, and they marked the autumn surge in the country's epidemic.
