Ukraine's COVID-19 cases hit new daily high on 26 March 2021
A look back at three days of rising infections and deaths in Ukraine in late March 2021.

How quickly was COVID-19 spreading in Ukraine in the final week of March 2021? On 26 March 2021, the country reported 18,132 new confirmed cases in the previous 24 hours, a new daily high. The nationwide total of confirmed cases rose to 1,614,707.
The figure followed another high a day earlier. On 25 March 2021, Ukraine reported 16,669 new confirmed cases and 362 deaths over 24 hours. That took the total number of confirmed cases to 1,596,575 and the nationwide death toll to 31,135.
Deaths climbing
Deaths had been rising as well. On 24 March 2021, Ukraine reported 343 deaths from COVID-19 in a single day, a new single-day high for the second consecutive day. The nationwide death toll then stood at 30,773.
The next day's 362 deaths exceeded that figure, so daily deaths rose across the period. Over the same stretch, daily new cases went from 16,669 on 25 March to 18,132 on 26 March 2021.
Taken together, the three days showed both infections and deaths moving upward in Ukraine, with the confirmed total passing 1.6 million.
