Ukraine's COVID-19 death toll climbs after record daily figures
A look back at the daily COVID-19 figures Ukraine reported for 19 November 2020, a day after the country passed 10,000 deaths.

How bad had Ukraine's COVID-19 situation become by 19 November 2020? The figures reported that day showed a record 257 new deaths and 13,357 new cases in the preceding 24 hours.
Those numbers took the nationwide death toll to 10,369 and the total number of recorded cases to 583,510.
A second daily record
The new high came one day after Ukraine passed the threshold of 10,000 total deaths from COVID-19. On 18 November 2020, a record 256 new fatalities had been reported over the previous 24 hours. The next day's figure of 257 exceeded that by one, setting another record.
Elsewhere in the region
On 17 November 2020, in neighbouring Belarus, opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya called on European leaders to impose sanctions on supporters of President Alexander Lukashenko. Her appeal followed reports that police had used tear gas, rubber bullets and stun grenades to disperse protesters.
