A look back at a day when daily confirmed infections in Ukraine reached a new high after two days of record figures.

How fast was COVID-19 spreading in Ukraine by 26 March 2021? The day's figures gave a stark answer: the country reported a record 18,132 new confirmed cases in the previous 24 hours, bringing the nationwide total of confirmed cases to 1,614,707.

The figure was the second record in as many days. On 25 March 2021, Ukraine had reported 16,669 new confirmed cases and 362 deaths over 24 hours. That raised the total of confirmed cases to 1,596,575 and the nationwide death toll to 31,135.

The deaths figure had also been climbing. On 24 March 2021, Ukraine recorded 343 deaths from COVID-19, a new single-day record for the second consecutive day, taking the death toll to 30,773.

Taken together, the reports from 24 to 26 March 2021 show daily cases and deaths rising over three consecutive days. Between 25 and 26 March alone, the total of confirmed cases increased by 18,132.
