A look back at two developments reported on 25 March 2020: a nationwide emergency regime and the arrest of a former foreign minister.

What was Ukraine dealing with on 26 March 2020? Two reports from the previous day framed the moment, one about public health and one about a criminal case involving a former senior official.

On 25 March 2020, the Cabinet of Ministers introduced a 30-day state of emergency across the whole country because of the spread of the coronavirus disease. The regime applied to the entire territory of Ukraine.

On the same day, as reported at the time, security forces arrested Leonid Kozhara, a former Ukrainian foreign minister. He was held on charges of murdering Sergiy Starytsky, an advertising mogul.
