What Ukraine's tightened quarantine rules meant from 6 April 2020

A look back at the restrictions on masks, documents, parks and group movement that took effect in Ukraine on that date.

What did life under quarantine in Ukraine look like from 6 April 2020? On that date, a ban imposed by the Cabinet of Ministers took effect, tightening the rules for movement in public as part of the response to coronavirus disease 2019.

Under the ban, people could not stay in public places without a mask or respirator, or without documents. Walks in parks and public gardens were prohibited, and so was moving around in a group of more than two people.

The government also required people over 60 to self-isolate for the duration of the quarantine.

Taken together, the measures set out what was allowed in public space for the quarantine period: protective face coverings, identity documents on hand, no recreational strolls in green areas, and no gatherings larger than two.
