Drones over Moscow and Bryansk, advances in Donetsk: 10 September 2024

Posted: | Filed under: Regions | by Borderland staff

A look back at a day of Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian regions, set against Russian territorial claims in Donetsk Oblast.

What did the front look like across Ukraine's and Russia's regions on 10 September 2024? It was marked by drone strikes deep into Russian territory and by continuing Russian pressure in Donetsk Oblast.

On 10 September 2024, Ukraine launched drone attacks on multiple Russian oblasts, including Moscow. As reported at the time, all flights were suspended at Vnukovo International Airport and Moscow Domodedovo Airport. Russia reported that two people were killed in the drone attack on Moscow.

Bryansk Governor Alexander Bogomaz said at least 59 Ukrainian drones had been shot down over his region.

Donetsk Oblast in the preceding days

The strikes came as fighting continued in eastern Ukraine. On 9 September 2024, Russian troops captured the village of Memryk in Donetsk Oblast.

On 8 September 2024, Russia formally claimed control of Novohrodivka, also in Donetsk Oblast. The town lies twelve kilometres (seven miles) from Pokrovsk, a strategically important Ukrainian logistical hub city.

Taken together, the reports from 8 to 10 September 2024 show activity on two fronts: Ukrainian long-range drone strikes on Russian regions, and Russian advances and claims in Donetsk Oblast.
