Kherson shelling and a Smolensk drone strike before 3 March 2026

Posted: | Filed under: Regions | by Borderland staff

A look back at two strikes reported in the days leading up to 3 March 2026, one in southern Ukraine and one in western Russia.

What had the front lines produced in the days before 3 March 2026? Two reported strikes, one on each side of the border, set the backdrop for that date.

On 1 March 2026, on the southern front of the Russo-Ukrainian war, Russian forces launched artillery strikes on Kherson. Three people were killed and two others were wounded.

A few days earlier, on 25 February 2026, a Ukrainian drone strike hit a fertilizer plant just outside Dorogobuzh in Smolensk Oblast, Russia. Seven people were killed and ten others were injured.

Together, the two reports show the war's toll on civilians and industrial sites in the days that led up to 3 March 2026.
