Mariupol corridor pledge and a Polish court ruling on pushbacks
A look back at two developments reported on the Ukraine war and the Belarus–Poland border in the final days of March 2022.

What was announced about a humanitarian corridor out of Mariupol on 31 March 2022? Russia's Ministry of Defence said its forces would reopen a corridor from Mariupol to Zaporizhzhia the following day, 1 April, at the request of the leaders of France and Germany.
The announcement concerned the movement of civilians from Mariupol towards Zaporizhzhia. The ministry framed the decision as a response to the request from the two European leaders.
A separate ruling on the Polish border
Two days earlier, on 29 March 2022, a regional court in the border town of Hajnówka ruled on a different matter linked to the Belarus–European Union border crisis of 2021–2022. The court found that pushbacks against migrants on the Belarus–Poland border violated Polish law.
