Poland summons Belarusian envoy after troops cross border
A retrospective on a border incident that followed Poland's approval of a wall along its frontier with Belarus.

What happened on the Polish-Belarusian border on 3 November 2021? Poland summoned the Belarusian chargé d'affaires after Belarusian troops crossed into Polish territory overnight.
A Polish government spokesman said the Belarusian personnel advanced 300 metres (980 ft) into Poland. According to the spokesman, they returned across the border only when a Polish patrol confronted them.
The incident came days after the Senate of Poland, on 29 October 2021, approved a plan to build a wall along the country's border with Belarus. The estimated cost was €353 million (US$407 million). The wall was a response to an influx of migrants, as reported at the time.
The summoning of the chargé d'affaires was the diplomatic step Warsaw took in reply to the crossing.
