A look back at two Russian attacks on Ukrainian towns, reported on 5 September 2026, that killed six people between them.

What did the Russian strikes of 5 September 2026 mean for ordinary communities far from the front line? This retrospective of 7 September 2026 looks back at two attacks reported in the preceding days, in Kyiv Oblast and Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.

In Bucha, in Kyiv Oblast, a Russian missile strike on 5 September killed two people and damaged multiple residential buildings.

The same day, a Russian airstrike hit Kamianske in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. Four people were killed and five were injured, one of them critically, according to the Dnipropetrovsk governor, Oleksandr Hanza.

Both attacks were recorded under the wider heading of the Russo-Ukrainian war. The Kamianske strike was listed in connection with the Russian occupation of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, a term used for the military occupation of the region by Russia following the invasion of Ukraine.

Taken together, the two strikes of 5 September caused six deaths, and the Bucha attack left damage to homes in a town in Kyiv Oblast.
