Strikes on Kyiv Oblast and Omsk marked 6–7 July

Posted: | Filed under: Regions | by Borderland staff

A look back at two attacks reported on 6 July 2026, one on Kyiv Oblast and one on a refinery in Siberia.

What did the reports of 7 July 2026 carry from the previous day? Two attacks, in opposite directions, across the Russo-Ukrainian war.

On 6 July, a Russian ballistic missile and drone attack hit Kyiv Oblast. At least 22 people were killed and 56 others injured. Search and rescue efforts were under way in Kyiv to free civilians trapped under rubble.

The same day, Ukraine's General Staff reported that drones had struck the Omsk refinery in Omsk, Omsk Oblast, in the Siberia region.

What the two reports show

Taken together, the reports show a war reaching deep into both countries. Civilian casualties and rescue work around Kyiv were still being counted, while the General Staff described a strike on an industrial site in Siberia.

The casualty figures were stated as minimums, so the toll could rise as rescuers cleared the rubble. The reports gave no further details on the Omsk strike.
