Ukraine's regions under drone and glide bomb fire in January 2026
A look back at the strikes on Ukrainian cities reported in the days before 22 January 2026.

What did the days leading up to 22 January 2026 look like for Ukraine's regions? The reports from those days describe repeated Russian attacks on cities far apart from one another.
On 18 January, Russian drone strikes hit several places across the country, including Dnipro, Kharkiv, Khmelnytskyi, Odesa, Sumy and Zaporizhzhia. As reported at the time, at least two people were killed and dozens were injured.
On 19 January, a glide bomb attack on Kharkiv, in Kharkiv Oblast, killed a woman and injured 11 other people.
Taken together, the two reports show how widely the attacks were spread: from the north-east and east to the south and the west of the country. Kharkiv appeared in both, struck by drones on 18 January and by a glide bomb the following day.
