A look back at drone claims, shifting positions in Kursk Oblast and a deadly strike on a ship at Odesa.

What did 11 March 2025 look like beyond Kyiv? Reports from that day pointed to action in Russia's border region, in its airspace and at a Ukrainian Black Sea port.

In Odesa, a Russian missile struck a cargo ship at the Port of Odesa. The vessel was carrying a shipment of grain to Algeria. Four crew members were killed and the ship was severely damaged.

In Kursk Oblast, Russia announced that its military had retaken multiple villages over the previous several days, advancing up to the outskirts of Sudzha. Sudzha was the main town held by the Ukrainian military. As reported at the time, Ukrainian forces were withdrawing to avoid encirclement.

Russia also said its air defences had shot down at least 337 Ukrainian drones overnight. The claim covered 10 oblasts.

Taken together, the day's reports showed a port in the south struck, a contested border area changing hands and a large drone barrage claimed by Russian authorities.
