A look back at the clash involving Ukrainian naval vessels, and at two other items from the preceding days: a football ban and a regional renaming.

What happened near the Kerch Strait on 25 November 2018? A Russian border patrol ship, the Don, rammed the Ukrainian Navy tug Yani Kapu while a group of Ukrainian naval boats was moving from Odesa to Mariupol. Russian forces then opened fire on the group.
As reported at the time, three Ukrainian vessels were seized and 23 sailors were taken prisoner. Six of them were wounded.
Other developments in the preceding days
The days before the incident also brought two domestic decisions.
On 20 November 2018, the Verkhovna Rada voted to rename Kirovohrad Oblast as Kropyvnytskyi Oblast. It sent the bill to the Constitutional Court.
On 21 November 2018, the Football Federation of Ukraine banned six former players of Olimpik Donetsk for life. The decision followed its examination of a case involving match-fixing.
