What was making news in Ukraine around 23 July 2020? Two stories stood out in the days before that date, one concerning public safety and the other the judiciary.

On 21 July 2020, an attacker seized a bus carrying passengers in Lutsk.

A few days earlier, on 17 July 2020, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) notified Pavlo Vovk, head of the Kyiv District Administrative Court (OASK), and other judges of that court that they were suspected of creating a criminal organisation and seizing power.

The two reports concerned very different matters, but both were part of the news picture in Ukraine as of 23 July 2020.
