What was the situation in Ukraine's regions as of 30 October 2025? The days before that date brought violence in several oblasts, from a drone strike on a minibus in the north-east to a grenade explosion on a train in the north-west.

Sumy Oblast

On 26 October 2025, a Russian drone struck a minibus in Mykolaivka, Sumy Raion, Sumy Oblast. One person was killed and 13 others were injured, two of them seriously. The strike came during the 2025 Sumy offensive.

Zhytomyr Oblast

On 24 October 2025, a man detonated a grenade on a train in Ovruch, Zhytomyr Oblast. Three women and a border guard were killed, and 12 other people were wounded. The perpetrator also died in the blast and was a fugitive from Kharkiv.

The attack happened while State Border Guard Service officers were checking passengers' documents on a diesel train platform. The perpetrator was identified as a 23-year-old man from Kharkiv who had recently been detained for attempting to violate the state border in its western section.

Donetsk Oblast

Also on 26 October 2025, a Ukrainian drone strike hit an apartment building in Russian-controlled Donetsk. Two people were killed, including an elderly woman, and another was injured.
