A look back at fighting in Sievierodonetsk and a missile strike on a Carpathian railway station.

What did the war look like on 1 June 2022? Two developments stood out: continuing battles for Sievierodonetsk and a second Russian missile strike on a railway station in the Carpathians.

Fighting for control of Sievierodonetsk went on. According to Serhiy Haidai, head of the Luhansk regional military administration, Russian forces already controlled 80% of the territory.

Far to the west, Russian cruise missiles hit a railway station near the Beskydy tunnel in the Carpathians for the second time, wounding two people. Anton Herashchenko, an adviser to the interior minister, said the strike was meant to stop rail traffic and halt deliveries of fuel and weapons from Ukraine's allies.

Elsewhere in the region

On 30 May 2022, two days before the covered date, Aleksandr Rozenberg was sworn in as the new prime minister of Transnistria.
