Who would run the central bank after 19 March 2018?
A look back at the days around 19 March 2018, when Ukraine's central bank changed leadership and unveiled new coins.

What was happening at Ukraine's central bank in the days before 19 March 2018? Two announcements stood out in the preceding week, one about money in circulation and one about who would lead the institution.
On 14 March 2018, the National Bank of Ukraine presented new coins in denominations of 2, 5 and 10 hryvnias. It also announced that it would stop minting small-denomination coins.
On 15 March 2018, the Verkhovna Rada dismissed Valeriia Hontareva from the post of Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine and appointed Yakiv Smolii in her place.
Taken together, the two decisions marked a week in which the central bank both revealed a change to the coinage and received a new head, as reported at the time.
